Nathalie looked at Deontic, who took over. "This is the diagram I drew in the car. It predicted where everyone would sit. I've also written some other predictable facts. The first one being that no-one would take off their coats. We lived in each other's pockets for years and this feels more like a summit than a family get together. There isn't a person here who isn't weighing up everyone else, even Nathalie, who is playing hostess. The conversation has been completely dominated by Mello and Nathalie, because they are the only two with the confidence to talk and observe at the same time." She passed the diagram to Luigi, who glanced at it and passed it to Matt. It continued around the room. "It's taking an average of 1.3 seconds for each of you to take in the information from that paper and none of you have reacted in any way, despite the fact that it did predict your positions perfectly." She grinned. "Oh! It's so good to have an intelligent conversation!" |
